The Vineyard Christian Community Based Organization (“Vineyard,” “we,” “us”) relies on the generosity of individuals, churches, and partners to provide education, nutrition, mentorship, and community support in Mathare, Nairobi. This Donations Policy explains how gifts are received and used. It complements our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. It is not legal or tax advice.
1. Purpose of donations
Gifts to Vineyard support our mission to change lives through programmes such as:
- Education support (fees, materials, and related needs)
- Nutritious meals and feeding outreach
- Healthcare-related support and medical camps (as applicable)
- Mentorship, spiritual care, and community activities
- Essential operations that make programme delivery possible
2. Ways to give
Supporters may give through channels we publish or confirm directly, including:
- General donations toward Vineyard programmes and operations
- Child sponsorship — typically a monthly gift that helps sustain holistic support for children in our programmes (see our sponsorship overview)
- Church and organisational partnerships arranged with our leadership
- In-kind gifts (goods or services) accepted only when appropriate and agreed in advance
This website does not process card payments directly. Bank, mobile-money, or partner payment instructions are provided through official Vineyard communications after you contact us or through authorised partners. Start via Get Involved or Contact.
3. Official payment channels only
Give only using account or payment details confirmed by Vineyard (or an authorised partner we name in writing). We are not responsible for money sent to unofficial accounts, individuals claiming to fundraise for us without authorisation, or look-alike social media pages.
If you are unsure whether a request is genuine, pause and verify with info@vineyardcbo.org or +254 718 329 628 before sending funds.
4. Sponsorship gifts
Expressing interest online does not create a payment obligation until you choose to give through confirmed channels. Sponsorship is programme-based; we do not publish identifiable individual child profiles for public browsing. Staff can guide matching and next steps privately. Monthly sponsorship amounts communicated on our site (for example the indicative monthly figure on our sponsorship pages) may be updated over time — confirm current details when you give.
Some sponsorship pathways may involve trusted partners (such as The Hope Venture). Where that applies, partner terms and reporting practices may also apply; we will make that clear in our communications with you.
5. Restricted and unrestricted gifts
- Unrestricted gifts allow us to allocate funds where need is greatest across programmes and responsible operations.
- Restricted gifts given for a stated purpose (for example sponsorship or a named project) will be applied to that purpose as far as reasonably possible.
If a restricted purpose becomes impractical, completed, or overfunded, we may reallocate remaining funds to a closely related need and, where practical, inform the donor. We will not knowingly use a gift for a purpose that contradicts the donor’s clear written restriction without seeking agreement.
6. Stewardship and accountability
We are committed to:
- Using donations for charitable programme and organisational purposes consistent with our mission
- Maintaining internal financial controls and records appropriate to our size and operations
- Providing reasonable acknowledgement or receipt information when requested and practical
- Communicating impact through news, reports, and updates without compromising child privacy
Operational costs (administration, banking fees, systems, and coordination) are a legitimate part of delivering programmes effectively. We aim to keep overhead proportionate and transparent in spirit.
7. Refunds
Donations are generally voluntary gifts and are non-refundable once received, except where required by law or where we agree a refund is appropriate (for example a clear duplicate payment or funds sent in proven error to Vineyard). Contact us promptly if you believe a mistake has occurred.
8. Tax and receipts
Tax treatment of donations depends on your country of residence and applicable law. Vineyard does not provide tax advice. Where we can issue an acknowledgement or receipt, we will do so on request subject to our records and local practice. International donors should confirm deductibility with their own advisers or giving platforms.
9. Privacy of donor information
We treat donor contact and payment-related correspondence carefully. We do not sell donor lists. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Policy.
10. Refusal of gifts
We may decline a donation if accepting it would:
- Conflict with our mission, values, or safeguarding standards
- Create unacceptable legal, ethical, or reputational risk
- Impose conditions we cannot responsibly meet
- Appear linked to unlawful activity
